A B Walker open new branch in Caversham
Reading-based funeral directors, A B Walker & Son has celebrated the opening of its new branch in Caversham, marking its sixth location in the area.
The branch was officially opened by Mrs Mary Bayliss, the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire in the presence of Councillor Marian Livingston, the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Reading.
The event, which saw Reverend Jeremy Tear, community priest of Caversham, bless the new chapel, was attended by the presidents of the key funeral trade associations; the Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD).
Managing director, Julian Walker said: “This is an important opening for us because of the personal links we have always had with Caversham, our grandparents lived in Kings Road. We have opened a branch in Caversham so that we can offer bereaved families a service on their doorstep and they do not have to get caught up in traffic in Reading.”
The new premise will join the company’s current branches in Reading, Bracknell, Henley-on-Thames, Thatcham and Wokingham.
