Brighton club ‘bowled over' by support from funeral homeThe Co-operative Funeralcare on High Street in Newhaven has pledged sponsorship to Denton Island Indoor Bowls Club for a year.

After sponsoring a successful bowls competition on 15 April, the funeral home has decided to continue to sponsor the mixed drawn triples competition at the bowling club.

The funeral home has also pledged to give prizes to the bowling club for quiz nights, race nights and other fundraising events over the next 12 months.

Funeral director Justin Harvey said: “We got involved last year when I approached them to see if there was any way in which we could help them out. Since then we’ve helped in various ways, but sponsoring the competition was just fantastic and we’d love to keep on supporting them for another year.”

Justin and funeral arranger Alison Campbell approached the club, which has over 350 members, in August 2011. Since then staff at the funeral home have donated raffle prizes, hampers and prizes for quiz nights or race nights and a bumper Christmas hamper.
