Westerleigh Group officially opens Bishopbriggs Crem near Glasgow
The local community will be able to visit the new facility and its grounds on Saturday 1 February 2025 when it hosts its inaugural open day, between 10am and 2pm

Westerleigh Group has officially opened Bishopbriggs Crematorium, a new facility to the north east of Glasgow.
Bishopbriggs Crematorium is Westerleigh’s fourth site in Scotland, and joins Borders Crematorium, Stirlingshire Crematorium and West Lothian Crematorium.
Located midway between Bishopbriggs and Kirkintilloch, the facility will provide a “peaceful and beautiful” setting for families to mourn, commemorate and celebrate the lives of their loved ones.
The local community will be able to visit the new facility and its grounds on Saturday 1 February 2025 when it hosts its inaugural open day, between 10am and 2pm.
Overlooked by Campsie Hills and surrounded by agricultural farmland, Bishopbriggs Crematorium is equipped with the latest technology and high-quality facilities.
The focal point is a “modern and welcoming” chapel that can seat 120 people, with significant additional standing rooms available.
There are also 80 standard parking spaces, an overflow car park, seven accessible parking spaces, three taxi spaces and electric vehicle charging points.
As with all Westerleigh Group’s crematoria, the grounds, Garden of Remembrance and ash scattering area at Bishopbriggs Crematorium will be carefully tended by a team of experts.
The group has also announced the appointment of Donnie Connor as the crematorium’s first manager, who has been with Westerleigh since 2019. He previously had a long-term career in social care.
Donnie Connor said: “I am proud to be the first manager of this exceptional crematorium, which is one of the most environmentally-friendly facilities in the UK. We are using the very latest in cremator technology, which makes a significant difference towards offsetting our carbon footprint. We have also installed a zonal heating system and low-energy lighting.
“Now we are open, we can warmly welcome and serve people from the communities in and around the Greater Glasgow area and provide them with the exceptional care that the Westerleigh Group is renowned for.”
He added: “We proudly ensure that every service is delivered with respect and dignity, leaving mourners with comforting memories from their loved one’s final journey.”
