Howe Bridge Crem to host anniversary service this September

As part of the anniversary commemorations, there are plans to bury a time capsule within the crematorium’s grounds

Westerleigh Group has organised a special anniversary service for Howe Bridge Crematorium on Saturday 28 September from 11am to celebrate the facility’s 25 years of service to the bereaved in the surrounding communities.

As part of the anniversary commemorations, there are plans to bury a time capsule within the crematorium’s grounds. Members of the local community are being invited to suggest ideas for what to include in it.

Lindsey Edwardson, manager of Howe Bridge Crematorium, said: “The anniversary service is open to anyone we’ve served during the quarter-of-a-century we’ve been open and anyone else who would like to attend.

“We are also hoping to see some funeral directors, celebrants, florists and charities who have had contact with us over the years to join us for our commemoration. If they wish, of course, visitors are welcome to make use of our Letters to Heaven memorial post box, to leave messages or cards for loved ones they have lost.”

“We also hope local people will be inspired by the idea of us burying a time capsule within our grounds, and are appealing to them to send us ideas of items that we might put into it, for future generations to discover. Please contact us with any suggestions. I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of suggestions local people come up with.”

Westerleigh Group prides itself on providing “exceptional” care to the bereaved, the standards of which are inspected by the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities (FBCA) in England and Wales and the Scottish government.
