Elvis Presley’s crypt to be auctioned
The private mausoleum crypt that was the initial resting place of Elvis Presley is to be sold at auction.
Included in the lot, which is expected to receive an opening bid of $100,000, is the crypt, the right to open and close the vault for a burial, a memorial inscription and the use of a small chapel for a service.
Following Presley’s funeral, his body was entombed in a crypt at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, before being moved to a permanent site within the grounds of his Graceland home.
The King’s crypt is the main attraction of Los Angeles-based auction house Julien’s Sport Legends and Music Icons sale at the end of June, that also includes a robe worn by Amy Winehouse and a T-shirt worn by Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones.
