Undertaker causes further heartache to families following closure
The family of a retired firefighter has discovered that they were given another person’s ashes to scatter.
Kevin Smith, believed he was scattering his father, George, at a memorial garden surrounded by relatives, reports The Mirror.
It was later discovered that they had scattered someone else’s ashes when the local council discovered an urn containing George’s remains.
The urn was found when cleaning out ‘Colour My Funeral’ which received a number of complaints after going bust.
Kevin told The Mirror: “It is disgusting. It has brought everything back – the stress, the grief.
“I am beyond angry.”
The business left a number of people out of pocket when it suddenly closed without prior warning. Trading standards launched a probe following a number of complaints.
An announcement on the Companies House website, dated October 31, stated: “The Registrar of Companies gives notice that, unless cause is shown to the contrary, at the expiration of two months from the above date, the name of Colour My Funeral (Solihull) Limited will be struck off the register and the company will be dissolved. Upon dissolution, all properties and rights vested in, or held in trust for, the company are deemed to be bona vacantia and accordingly will belong to the crown.”
