Funeral group’s new website responds to changes in demand
A Dorset-based funeral group has introduced a new website, www.urnsandkeepsakes.co.uk, for products that hold ashes. Inspired by changing trends in mourning, the ‘urns and keepsakes’ range from necklaces to sculptures and are designed to keep the memory of loved ones alive.
Dorset’s Douch Family Funeral Directors has examples of the products in most of its eight branches so people can see, touch and feel them. The online shop means they are easily purchased and already the products are popular with relatives.
The products also include ‘cuddle stones’ that are meant to be held, and the items are available in a variety of materials.
Marcella McDonagh, from the Ives and Shand branch in Parkstone, said: “The way people mourn and chose to remember lost loved ones is changing.
“Rather than scattering all the ashes, more people want to retain some to keep their loves ones’ memory alive.
“This range is to satisfy that demand and it’s proving very popular. There is a wide variety so there’s something for all tastes.
“We have them in our branches but they’re also available at our online shop at www.urnsandkeepsakes.co.uk.
“It is noticeable now that people are dealing with the mourning process in different ways and as funeral directors we want to offer people what they want.”
