Co-Op launches ‘Star for a Star’ Christmas initiative
Central England Co-operative Funeralcare has launched its ‘Star for a Star’ initiative. It allows families, who wish to remember a loved one, to place a star, with their own personalised message, on a Christmas tree for a charitable donation.
All money raised goes to local charities and people can take part in the initiative by picking up a star from their nearest Central England Co-operative Funeralcare Home.
The initiative is also going digital to allow families to place their tributes online.
Lost loved ones can be remembered by Tweeting a message and using #mycoopstar.
Messages will then appear in the ‘Star for a Star’ memory gallery on the Central England Co-operative website at centralengland.coop/funeral/star.
Head of funeral for Central England Co-operative Kevin Crute said: “Star for a Star is a wonderful way of remembering loved ones at Christmas, while enabling us to help raise money for our local community and this year we are offering the additional option of putting messages of love online.
“We are honoured to be taking part in a Star for a Star. Christmas can be a difficult time for families who have lost a loved one and it is a privilege to be able to support them at this special time.”
