Natural Legacy Woollen Coffins and Caskets gain FFMA Certification
Yorkshire based coffin manufacturer, Natural Legacy, is proud to add The Funeral Furnishings Manufacturer’s Association (FFMA) Certification to its range of Woollen Coffins and Ash Caskets.
The funeral industry body, FFMA launched a UK coffin and casket certification scheme in September 2016, working in partnership with Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider.
Following an increase in reports from crematoria about incidents of coffins not behaving as expected when auto-charged or cremated, the FFMA contracted with Intertek to set up a Coffin Certification Standard. This will ensure that all coffins presented for cremation are of a desired standard and deemed to be fit for purpose.
The initiative has been fully endorsed by the Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities (FBCA), Institute of Cemetery & Crematorium Management (ICCM), Cremation Society of Great Britain and The Association of Private Crematoria & Cemeteries (ACCP).
UKAS – Accredited International Market Leader, Intertek conducted the tests and Intertek’s results have provided the required evidence to ensure that all FFMA accredited Coffins and Caskets meet the required level of quality.
David Crampton President of the FFMA said: “The launch of the Coffin Certification Standard is a major step forward to ensuring that high standards are maintained across the trade. The cremation sector has provided guidance to all of their members to recognise the FFMA trademark standard, as a standard of quality, ensuring a coffin or casket bearing the mark is fit for cremation.”
Rachel Hainsworth, commercial director of Natural Legacy said “We are very pleased to have gained this well regarded and recognised Certification for our Woollen Coffins and Caskets and are confident it will help with the continued development and acceptance of our product range with our exclusive distributors, JC Atkinson, across the whole industry”.
