NCPC expands board with five new trustees
The National Council for Palliative Care has added five new trustees to its board.
The five were confirmed at a meeting of the current board on September 29.
The five new faces are: Ruston Smith, Dr Carl Brookes, Kevin Orford, Mohamed Omer and Kevin, Lord Shinkwin. Together with the existing board members, they will oversee the work of NCPC and the Dying Matters coalition.
Ilora, Baroness Finlay of Llandaff, chair of the Trustees, said “I’m thrilled to see new blood joining the board, especially as we approach our 25th anniversary. Over the past 25 years the National Council for Palliative Care, working with others, has helped palliative care services in the UK to lead the world. But there is more work to be done to ensure that everyone has access to the care they need when they need it. Having an active, engaged and experienced board is vital for our current and future work.”
Claire Henry MBE, CEO of the NCPC and Dying Matters said “it’s great to see new people wanting to join our board. We need a strong board to challenge and encourage us, to keep us on track and to help us think big. I’m grateful to all those who give their time to help us.”
Ruston Smith said “I feel very privileged to be appointed to such an experienced trustee board for such an important cause. The National Council of Palliative Care and Dying Matters is a necessary and critical charity where, as a trustee, it provides an opportunity to make a positive difference in helping people to live and die well.”
Mohamed Omer said “I am delighted being appointed as a trustee . Palliative care is a very sensitive issue amongst the BME Community and I hope that my experience working with that community will enable the organisation to reach out to everyone.”
