Funeral directors hit by burglars three times in 48 hours
A funeral director was targeted by a thief who broke in three times, walking away with the managing director’s Audi on the third visit.
Alan J Bradley & Sons, based in Manchester has released a CCTV image of the burglar in the hope of finding him.
Company director Malcolm Blair told Manchester Evening News: “I would describe this as sick. The burglar knew exactly what kind of place this is and what kind of place he was walking into.
“How would they feel if their mother, father or loved one was laid to rest here and some dirty piece of low-life got in? How would they like that?
“I’m a great believer in a saying my mum had which is ‘what comes around goes around’. If you do anything like this, you don’t deserve to be free for the rest of your life.
“Don’t get me wrong. It’s bad enough they’ve taken things but that can be replaced. We have insurance. My main concern is, if they’ve got in and they are smackheads they could do anything, absolutely anything.
“I’ve been doing this a long time. This is a caring, family business. To think that some scumbag low-life would want to break into a business of this nature doesn’t bare thinking about. We had five deceased people in here although I would like to stress there’s no way they got any access to them.”
A skylight was smashed in order to gain entry to David Bradley’s apartment above where a number of valuables were stolen including around £800 collected for Francis House children’s hospice.
The same evening someone smashed through the side window to get access to the office but nothing was taken until the third break-in when Mr Bradley’s Audi A7 keys and car were taken from his apartment.
Greater Manchester Police is investigating and anyone with information can call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
