Paul Allcock announced as new SAIF president

Norfolk based funeral director Paul Allcock of Allcock Family Funeral Services in Norwich has been appointed president of the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF).

Since the age of 17 Paul has worked in the funeral industry and opened his own family firm, Allcock Family Funeral Services, in 2000 with his father Terry, three brothers Mark, Peter and Phillip and his sister Sharon. Today, the company employs a total of nine family members from three generations and arranges over 300 funerals every year.

On becoming president of SAIF, Paul commented: “I am delighted to be taking on this new role and championing the independent funeral director. There are some big challenges facing the industry, particularly concerns over the cost of funerals, and I will be working hard to ensure the views of SAIF members, who work tirelessly to provide a high quality and personalised funeral service for families in their communities, are given a clear voice. It is an exciting time for SAIF as we continue to expand the services we offer to members and the support we provide to the general public.”

He added: “I am also pleased to announce that the mental health charity Mind will be my chosen charity for the year. Mental health is an issue we can all relate to as funeral directors as we support families during the difficult time of bereavement. We have several events and fundraising initiatives planned for the year to help raise money and support the valuable work Mind do.”
