New SAIF chief executive announced
Terry Tennens has been appointed as the new full time chief executive of SAIF (the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors).
Over the past two years SAIF membership has increased by 40 percent, from 600 to 850.
Terry Tennens will be at the forefront of SAIF’s national campaign to promote better public understanding of the costs involved in funerals and the benefits of using SAIF members.
SAIF’s new chief executive will also be drawing on his extensive experience to lobby the Government and represent the views of independent funeral directors on the challenges facing the industry.
On his appointment, Terry Tennens, chief executive of SAIF, said: “SAIF members are hardworking, dedicated funeral directors who have been providing a professional and friendly service to their local communities for generations and I share their passion for helping people during a difficult time in their life.
“Supporting members is at the heart of what SAIF is all about and I plan to continue developing and expanding the services we offer, including training and development as well as business and counselling support. I look forward to meeting many members over the coming months.”
Alun Tucker, who as executive chairman oversaw the growth of SAIF’s membership, added: “I am delighted to welcome Terry to SAIF at an exciting time of expansion which has seen us take a leading role in the funeral industry.
“SAIF and its members have been at the forefront of campaigning and raising awareness of issues in the industry and Terry’s experience of working with the Government will be invaluable.”
