Mansfield Crematorium will be hosting a special Father’s Day memorial service at its Thoresby Chapel on Sunday 16 June at 11am.

The site has invited families to visit and commemorate the lives of fathers and father figures.

This will be the first Father’s Day-themed service, and it follows on from the success of the Mother’s Day event held earlier this year, which drew in over 100 people to take part.

Civil celebrant Colum O’Shea will be leading the service, with several guest speakers including civil celebrants Katie Trinder and Cheryl Cooper; funeral director James Smith from WS Ingham and Sons; and crematorium manager and registrar Nada Colclough.

Cllr Andy Burgin, portfolio holder for environment and leisure at Mansfield District Council, said: “Father’s Day can be a particularly poignant time for those who have lost their father or father figure.

“Every year, we welcome many families to our grounds who come to lay flowers and commemorate their loved ones around Father’s Day.

He added: “We hope that families will find comfort in their visit to us again this year.”
