Golden Charter employee fundraising day generates £1,225 for charity

Local businesses such as Massimo’s, Connect and The Radisson Blu also donated raffle prizes to help the fundraising efforts

Funeral plan provider Golden Charter has raised over £1,225 for charity through an employee fundraising event held at its headquarters in Bearsden.

Employees nominated several charities to support and voted for Macmillan Cancer Support as the main beneficiary, raising £825 for the cause.

Additionally, £400 was split across eight further charities, including Alzheimer Scotland, Dementia UK, Diabetes UK, Marie Curie, Pancreatic Cancer UK, PDSA, Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust and SiMBA.

Funds were raised through activities including a ‘Tour-de-Glasgow’ bike-a-thon which clocked up an impressive 60km in just two hours, using a bike provided by David Lloyd Anniesland.

Claire Donnelly, director of People and Culture at Golden Charter, said: “The funeral industry plays a critical role within local communities and our funeral director partners are continually focused on finding ways to give back.
“The charity fundraising day is one of the ways we can play our part. We are very grateful to the local businesses that assisted our effort and to our colleagues for showing such strong support!”
