Foster’s Funeral Directors launches Xmas appeal for women’s aid

Foster’s Funeral Directors has launched a Christmas appeal for local women’s aid charities, with the aim to provide support and resources for women and children who have suffered from domestic abuse.
This campaign follows the success of the Easter appeal that provided over 500 Easter Eggs to vulnerable children in five local communities, and with the support of the community and local business, the aim is that the Christmas appeal can do the same.
The women’s aid charities are those local to Scotland and provide vital information, temporary accommodation and support for their recovery.
As these victims of abuse often have to leave their homes quickly, they have little or no possessions. Many also have children and babies, which makes the situation even harder.
As a result, this appeal is calling for donations of new and unused items, such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, hairbrushes, colouring books and crayons, soap and body wash, shampoo and conditioner, sticker books, as well as food shopping gift vouchers and day.
Nick McLaughlin, managing director at Foster’s Funeral Directors , said: “We want to make a difference in our community. We know that the holiday season can be particularly challenging for women and children in difficult situations, and we wanted to show them that they’re not alone.”
Stephen Berry, head of communications at Foster’s, added: “We’re thrilled with the response so far. It’s heartening to see so many people coming together to support this cause, and I hope the appeal will make a big difference in the lives of these women and children.”
