The Natural Burial Company makes donation for bereavement awareness day

Christopher Doggett, general manager of The Natural Burial Company, handed over a cheque for £200 to Rainbows Hospice kindly donated by those who attended the recent Prestwold Hall Bereavement Awareness Day.

The awareness day had an exhibition, presentations and discussion groups covering all aspects of bereavement and funeral services. The event was attended by the public and bereavement professionals and, as a result, a date has already been set for next years event. It is expected to be held on Sunday 28 April 2019.

The event was formally opened by cricket broadcaster Jonathan “Aggers” Agnew, who planted a weeping willow in the grounds of Prestwold Hall to commemorate the event.

Presentations included the ‘Benefits of Pre-arranging Funerals’, ‘Bereavement Support’, the ‘Natural Burial Difference’, and ‘Ways to Remember’. There were also demonstrations of floristry, natural wood carving and grave digging using traditional tools and methods.

Outside of the hall was an exhibition of funeral vehicles including motorcycle, horse drawn and Volkswagen Camper Van hearses.

Doggett said: “We welcome the opportunity to help break taboos and allow the public the opportunity to discuss bereavement and ask questions in a relaxed setting. We are extremely grateful to Prestwold Hall who have provided an exceptional setting for this event and for all of the funeral directors, celebrants and suppliers who have helped make the day such a success. Feedback has been excellent and we are already looking forward to making it even better next year.”
