Malone and Fox in Glasgow joins Funeral Partners
Stephen Fox has taken the opportunity to retire and enjoy some free time, while Alex Malone plans to stay on as the business principal
Malone and Fox Funeral Directors, based in the Southside of Glasgow, has become the latest funeral provider to join Funeral Partners’ network.
Alex Malone, who had built a successful career in the food packaging sector, moved into the funeral industry “completely by accident” after giving business advice to a local funeral director.
After discovering an instant passion for the industry, Malone went on to assist the business for free and learn the trade before setting up Malone and Fox Funeral Directors with friend and business partner Stephen Fox in 2011.
With the business now part of Funeral Partner’s growing operation in Scotland, Fox has taken the opportunity to retire and enjoy some free time, while Malone plans to stay on as the business principal.
Malone said: “I remember the very first funeral I ever helped with; the family were so grateful for everything we had done. It gave me so much pride and pleasure to hear that.
“It was a big decision for Stephen and I to set up the business, but I love everything about the job and the service we always provide for families. At the end of the day, it is all about the care you give people, the way you are with families and doing your best for them.”
According to Malone and Fox, they have had multiple offers to buy the business over the last two years but were not ready to sell until they found the right acquisition partner.
After meeting with Funeral Partners, they decided they were “the ideal people to work with”.
