Westerleigh sees three crems make Good Funeral Awards shortlist

The winner will be named at a special celebration event at the Eden Project in Cornwall on 14 September

Westerleigh Group has revealed that three of the four finalists shortlisted for the ‘Crematorium of the Year’ category at this year’s Good Funeral Awards are part of its network.

West Berkshire Crematorium, which was named ‘Crematorium of the Year’ in 2023, has a one-in-four chance of taking the title again this year, along with Gedling Crematorium and Great Glen Crematorium.

The Good Funeral Awards are run by the Association of Green Funeral Directors, and aims to recognise all those in the industry who offer the best service and/or products to their customers.

Debbie Smith, CEO of Westerleigh Group, said: “To have three of the four finalists in one of the most prestigious categories of these highly respected awards is a huge honour. It speaks volumes about the dedication and commitment of the passionate people who work at all of Westerleigh Group’s crematoria, and confirms that we consistently deliver exceptional care to the families we support.

“But whether one of our sites is named ‘Crematorium of the Year’ in September or not, they are all already winners in our eyes by making it to the final four, in the face of increasingly tough competition. We are very grateful to all of our funeral industry partners who took time to nominate our crematoria.”

She added: “Ultimately, the real winners are the families we support, as our repeated presence in the finals of ‘Crematorium of the Year’ confirms that they have been served with exceptional care, something that is central to everything we do at Westerleigh Group. ”
