Westerleigh Group to open new Kent crematorium

Herne Bay Crematorium becomes the 40th site owned by the Westerleigh Group, which operates crematoriums and cemeteries across England, Scotland and Wales

Westerleigh Group has announced that it is set to open a brand-new Crematorium which will serve the communities in and around Herne Bay, Whitstable and Canterbury.

A community open day is taking place at Herne Bay Crematorium on Saturday 11 November between 11am and 2pm, two days before the site officially opens, on Monday 13 November.

Herne Bay Crematorium, in Bullockstone Road, is set within 14 acres of picturesque grounds, surrounded by mature woodland and agricultural fields.

The crematorium contains a contemporary chapel, capable of seating 101 people, with significant additional space available if required.

The site also has 89 standard parking spaces and four accessible parking spaces, plus an overflow car park.

James Brown, the first manager of Herne Bay Crematorium, said: “I am looking forward to opening our doors and providing local families with the exceptional care that Westerleigh Group is renowned for, working with them to provide uniquely personal services and memorials for their loved ones.

“No appointment is necessary for the open day, and we very much look forward to welcoming local families to our lovely grounds. Our open day offers an opportunity for anyone to come and visit our beautiful site and ask any questions they might have, in an informal setting, about what we do here and the support we provide to bereaved families.”

He added: “We look forward to welcoming people to our crematorium and starting to build those relationships which will ensure we provide a very positive presence within the local community.”
