A.W. Lymn acquires Clifton garage for transformation
The deal, due to take place in 2022, marks a relocation from Chaworth House, which the group has occupied for three decades
A.W. Lymn has announced the purchase of Bob Sherwin’s Clifton garage, a mechanics premises, with plans to transform the site and extend the group’s offering in the area.
The deal, due to take place in 2022, marks a relocation from Chaworth House, which the group has occupied for three decades.
Situated on Southchurch Drive, the garage will provide additional space for Lymns to expand its accessibility for the families it serves.
The Clifton garage renovation follows a recent conversion of an old bank in Stapleford that created a larger onsite car park and extended mortuary to the site.
Pete Clarson, commercial director at the independent funeral directors, said: “We had been looking for new premises in Clifton for a few years, we acknowledged that we could improve our services if we had a new facility, so we began looking for alternatives in the area.
“Chaworth House is a lovely facility and has served us well over the past 30 years, but it had little scope to expand, so relocating was the best solution for us.”
Following completion of the transaction, Lymns will operate a total of 27 funeral homes throughout Nottinghamshire and South Derbyshire.
Clarson added: “The garage provides us with a blank canvas to start from scratch and redesign the building to our exact requirements.
“We’re looking forward to this new project, improving our services and continuing to offer our support to the families of Clifton.”
