Kent Natural Burials awarded ‘best burial ground of the year’
Kent Natural Burials has been awarded ‘Best Burial Ground of the Year’ by The Good Funeral Awards.
The company which was founded in 2007, has two burial grounds, Deerton and Riverview, which are both based along the Medway River Basin.
Sian Muir, manager of Kent Natural Burials, said she was “delighted” to pick up the award at the event held on 19th October 2019 at the Port Lympne Hotel, Hythe, Kent.
She said: “The whole team has worked hard over the past few years to ensure that the site at Deerton, is a beautiful and peaceful place for loved ones and family members to visit.
“Our new site Riverview will be undergoing the same natural landscaping and we are confident that the site will be an attractive, natural resting place for many people who embrace the idea of a natural burial.”
The AGFD Good Funeral Awards is run by the Association of Green Funeral Directors, a non-profit organisation which aims to “bring natural eco-friendly funerals into the mainstream”.
Rebecca O’Neill, director, added: “We are very proud of what we have achieved over the past twelve years. We take great care in looking after our burial grounds to a high eco standard to deliver a beautiful natural resting place.
“This award will help promote the idea of green, natural burials to those who have no idea that there is an alternative to a traditional funeral.”
