The mayor of Brent has reopened a Kensal Rise funeral home after it had closed for extensive refurbishment.
Mayor of Brent, councillor Arshad Mahmood, cut the ribbon as the team from John Nodes Funeral Service in Kensal Rise celebrated the reopening of the refurbished funeral home. The team were joined by Roman Catholic and Anglican priests along with civil celebrants, with their chapel of rest being blessed by Monsignor Roger Reader and Father David Ackerman from St John’s in Kensal Green.
Funeral arranger Bernadette Barrett, said: “What a transformation. It’s all open plan and we have a new arranging area. It feels friendly and welcoming and we have already had positive comments from visitors to the branch.”
John Nodes Funeral Service was established in north London 190 years ago and the Kensal Rise branch in Station Terrace opened in 1930. It was run as a family business by six generations of the Nodes family until becoming part of Funeral Partners, a national network of funeral directors.
Area development manager Hayley Carney, added: “John Nodes Funeral Service has been serving its local communities in North Kensington, Kensal Rise, Cricklewood and Harlesden for nearly 200 years and Bernadette and the team are continuing that tradition, while ensuring our funeral homes feel modern, welcoming and peaceful.”
