Open evening at The Oaks Crematorium

The Oaks Crematorium, Havant will open its doors to the public next month for an open evening with several special guest speakers who will discuss organ transplantation and body donation for medical science.
On Thursday 5 October at 6.30pm, people are invited to come and join the team at The Oaks plus guest speakers, Dr Dave Walker from the University of Southampton Medical School, Claire Mercier who will talk about her family’s experience with organ donation and Mick Wilcox, Specialist Nurse from Organ Donation, South Central Organ Donation Services Team for an informative evening at the crematorium, which includes a Q&A session and optional tour of The Oaks and its facilities. Visitors can also find out about bereavement support and advice, which The Oaks offers on a monthly basis.
Guest speaker, Dr Dave Walker said: “This will be a great opportunity to find out about the process of whole body donation and the activities associated with a University anatomy laboratory.”
Claire Mercier said: “Organ donation is a subject very close to my heart as my brother became a donor and saved four lives. On 5 October I’ll be sharing my family’s journey and showing the life changing impact it’s had – in particular to one of my brother’s donor recipients.”
Set in eight and a half acres, The Oaks Crematorium is part of Southern Co-op, which is an independent regional business owned by its members who are local people.
The open evening takes place on Thursday 5 October 2017 from 6.30 to 8.30pm, at The Oaks Havant Crematorium, Bartons Road, Havant PO9 5RT.
