New crematorium has £4 million investment
A Crematorium has been built using a £4 million investment by Kirkleatham Memorial Limited to cater to the high demand in Middlesbrough.
Families in Middlesbrough and surrounding Cleveland and Redcar areas will now be able to hold either cremation or burial services using the facilities at The Kirkleatham Memorial Park and Crematorium (KMP). This comes after Teesside Crematorium, the second busiest in the UK, currently holds over 3,500 cremations and 350 burials per year.
The KMP, which is operated by the premium crematoria and cemetery operator Memoria, is now the closest option for 154,000 people, with 107,000 of these having lived more than 30 minutes from their nearest crematorium previously.
Inside, the chapel offers a full range of facilities including a Wesley music system, hearing loop to assist with hearing difficulties, organ, public address system, two plasma eulogy screens that can also be used to show personal photographs and a webcam for people who are unable to attend. It seats 96 people and has a full capacity of 200 people.
