Streetly Crematorium reopens reception to enhance service
Funeral directors and celebrants will also be able to make use of this private room to meet with families or wait between services

Walsall Council has officially reopened Streetly Crematorium’s reception area to provide a dedicated space for families, funeral directors and visitors.
The reception will serve as a central point of contact for visitors, allowing families to ask questions, collect ashes, and deliver funeral or memorial paperwork.
In addition, the reception will include a waiting area in a private room for visitors who have booked a chapel service or appointments, where those needing any additional support can meet with staff.
Funeral directors and celebrants will also be able to make use of this private room to meet with families or wait between services.
Cllr Gary Flint, portfolio holder for health and wellbeing at Walsall Council, said: “We are delighted to reopen the reception at Streetly Crematorium, ensuring families have access to the support and services they need during difficult times.
“Our bereavement staff have worked so hard to make this happen, and I thank them for their commitment to delivering this service. This is a significant step towards enhancing the support we provide to those using our service.”
He added: “This welcoming space will make a real difference in providing a compassionate and professional environment for bereaved families and visitors to Streetly.”
The crematorium’s reception reopening is part of broader site improvements undertaken over the past two years, including extensive landscape work to enhance the cemetery and crematorium grounds, as well as upgrades to the chapel exit garden and changing the road layout to improve site accessibility for visitors.
Walsall Council is currently undertaking a public consultation to shape the future of bereavement services in the borough, which will close on 21 April 2025.
