CMG donate £10k to The Lily Mae Foundation
CMG were able to make the donation due to its participation in a nationwide metal recycling scheme operated by the Association of Private Crematoria and Cemeteries
The Crematorium and Memorial Group (CMG) has donated £10,000 to The Lily Mae Foundation, a charity that supports parents and families that have been affected by the death of a baby.
The Crematorium and Memorial Group, (CMG), were able to make the donation due to its participation in a nationwide metal recycling scheme operated by the Association of Private Crematoria and Cemeteries.
The scheme sees metals which have been recovered from the cremation process recycled with the express consent of bereaved families and the profit donated to charity.
For the past 12 months, CMG has set aside a fund to help local charities whose fundraising has been “deeply impacted” by Covid-19 but have adapted to continue providing services and support.
The Lily Mae Foundation provide psychological, emotional and physical support to parents and families in Warwickshire, West Midlands and Shropshire who have lost a baby to Stillbirth, Neonatal Death, Miscarriage or Medical Termination.
The donation from CMG will enable the foundation to continue providing Memory Boxes that are “vital” to the mental health and wellbeing of parents, siblings and the wider family and are the first line of support for those who suffer the devastating loss of a baby.
Steve Gant, crematorium director at CMG said: “When The Lily Mae Foundation approached us for help, we could immediately recognise the challenges they now face. We are delighted to help fund their activities to ensure that families in our community receive the support they need.”
Geoff Heaps, chair of the trustees of The Lily Mae Foundation, added: “2020 and 2021 have been very difficult for us and all other charities. The pandemic has severely affected our ability to fundraise in support of our work.
“The donation so very kindly and generously awarded to us by CMG will enable us to provide a further 125 Memory Boxes to our partner hospitals to help bereaved parents and their families to create and store precious memories of their lost baby.”
