Central England Co-op announces first virtual members meeting amid Covid-19

Central England Co-op has announced it is to host its first online members meeting to update members on efforts to support local communities impacted by the coronavirus.

The society, which operates over 400 stores, funeral homes and travel stores across 16 countries will go live from 7pm on Wednesday 17 June, featuring a wide variety of subjects.

Normally, 12 meetings are held in April in venues across its trading estate spanning from Birmingham to Norfolk to update members and provide them with the chance to ask questions of the board and executive team.

However, due to restrictions put in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the society organised its first-ever online version of the meetings to ensure members continue to be informed.

Elaine Dean, society president, said: “Due to the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus, our board of directors took the decision in March to postpone the society’s annual members’ meetings which were scheduled to take place at the end of April.

“We are now pleased to announce our plans to hold our first-ever online members’ meeting to help us keep in touch and provide updates on what we are doing to support our communities during this global pandemic.”
